Because lots of low % incline? Or was it Swiss 62’s?

Not quite, It’s a racing league that is run over several weeks. Placings and points are accumulated for TEAM results, rather than an individual leader. The idea is to have teammates placed as best as possible. Some league placings are tight and a couple of points picked up here or there can mean winning. A lot of people cream their lycra over this 😉

This analysis is FOR the lead riders. I’m usually in the grupetto about 5 – 10 minutes behind. 😓

Eyeballs out start; desperately try to cling on until the first climb & then watch the lead riders fly off into the distance, kill yourself trying to stay with remaining “stragglers” , then die again 200m before the finish. Lay down in a darkened room & try to kid yourself by thinking something like “that ride made me stronger”! Job done!!!

It’ll be a key selection point for sure. It’ll be interesting to watch, because depending on the size of the group that gets away over the top, the chasing group may just catch them on the descent and flats that follow…
